A Partial Bibliography for Distributional Ornithology in Virginia

Aside from this website, the most current overview of bird distribution in Virginia is to be found in the fourth edition of Virginia’s Birdlife, an Annotated Checklist edited by Stephen C. Rottenborn and Edward S. Brinkley in 2007 and published by the Virginia Society of Ornithology and often called the "Gold Book". In evaluation of bird reports both recent and historical, the Committee has had occasion to read a great many articles and books, a few of which are listed below. Note the tremendous contributions of so many editors to quarterly reports in the Raven and national journals that cover Virginia's birds. If you have suggestions for additions to this Bibliography, please do send them in.
